In winter the lights start in the late afternoon, but the SkyWheel season is May to October, the White Water Walk runs April to November, and December boat sailings depend on the weather. Getting to Niagara Falls and Getting Around
Getting There
- From Toronto: by car it usually takes about an hour and a half, and can double at rush hour or on weekends, according to Niagara Falls Tourism. Toronto Pearson airport is about 125 km away.
- From Buffalo: Buffalo Niagara International Airport is roughly a 45-minute drive from Niagara Falls, Canada, and is often the easier airport for guests flying in from the US.
- By train: GO Transit runs a GO train from Toronto to Niagara Falls GO Station, but the station is not in the main tourist area and the trip is slower than driving. Check gotransit.com for the current timetable.
- By bus: Megabus runs to the Niagara Falls Bus Terminal at 4555 Erie Avenue, and Niagara AirBus links Toronto, Niagara and Buffalo with door-to-door pickup.
Getting Around Once You Arrive
The Falls, Clifton Hill, the SkyWheel, Skylon Tower and the Fallsview hotels sit within a few kilometres of each other, and plenty of guests walk between them. WEGO buses connect hotels and attractions, and taxis and rideshare fill the gaps.
Wine country is the part that needs a plan. If the group is drinking, nobody should be driving. Book a wine tour with transport, a private driver or a shuttle, and decide before you go who is in which vehicle.
A party bus or limo is worth pricing for a larger group. Ask the operator for written confirmation of its licence, what is allowed to be drunk on board and the cancellation terms. Do not assume alcohol is allowed in a vehicle in Ontario.
ID and the Border
Guests who live in Canada only need ID for bars and the casino. Guests from other countries should check the entry rules before they pay a deposit.
- US citizens: Canada says you do not need a visa or an eTA, and recommends traveling with a valid passport. If you are not flying and do not have a passport, you can show other ID that proves your full name, date of birth and citizenship. Check which documents the US requires to re-enter the country.

- Criminal records: anyone with a past conviction, including some drink-driving offences, can be refused entry. A guest with a record should check with the Canada Border Services Agency well before the trip.
- Crossing from the US: the Rainbow Bridge leads straight into Niagara Falls, Ontario. A toll applies at each bridge, and it is worth leaving extra time at the border on busy weekends.
Where To Stay for a Niagara Falls Bachelorette Party
Where you sleep sets the tone of the weekend, so pick the area first and the hotel second.
- Fallsview Boulevard: the tall hotels on the ridge above the Falls, many with falls-view rooms, plus the Fallsview Casino Resort and its spa. It is the most polished option and the easiest for a group that wants a view and walkable dinners.
- Clifton Hill and downtown: closer to the attractions, bars and late-night food. Rooms are usually simpler, and it is louder at night.
- Niagara-on-the-Lake: quiet streets, inns and wineries. It suits a smaller group that wants wine and good dinners more than a night out, but you will need a car or driver to reach the Falls.
- A rental house or suite: useful for 10 or more, because you get shared space for getting ready, and the cost per person can come down. Check the property's party and noise rules before booking.
For a group, ask for rooms on the same floor and book as early as you can. Weekends from June to September fill first, and prices move a lot by date.
Daytime Things To Do
Boat Tour to the Base of the Falls
The Canadian boat ride is run by Niagara City Cruises, the official boat tour operator for Niagara Parks. The Voyage to the Falls is a 20-minute trip to the base of the Horseshoe Falls, with departures through the day and evening, a free recyclable mist poncho for every guest, and wheelchair access. Adult tickets start at CA$47.95.
Before sunset the boats go into the mist. After sunset they stay at the outer edge for a lighter mist, so go in the daytime if the group wants to get wet and in the evening if they want to stay dry for dinner.
Journey Behind the Falls
Journey Behind the Falls takes you down 125 feet into the bedrock beside the Horseshoe Falls, through tunnels with viewing portals and out to an observation deck near the water. Adult (13+) admission is CA$33, it is open year round, and Niagara Parks recommends arriving 15 minutes before your timeslot.
It also runs a Journey at Night session that combines the illumination with the 10 p.m. fireworks during fireworks season, which makes a good plan for a group that wants the Falls after dark.
White Water Walk
The White Water Walk is a self-guided walk on a boardwalk beside the Niagara River rapids. An elevator takes you 70 metres down to the base of the gorge, then you walk about a quarter-mile along viewing platforms. It takes roughly an hour, runs April to November, and costs CA$21 for adults.
Niagara SkyWheel
The SkyWheel is at 4960 Clifton Hill and stands 175 feet tall. A ride lasts about 8 to 12 minutes, and in 2026 an adult ticket was CA$15, with children 12 and under CA$7, before tax. It runs May to October, and the night ride shows the lit Falls.
Skylon Tower
Skylon Tower, at 5200 Robinson Street, has indoor and outdoor observation decks 775 feet above the Falls, reached by glass-enclosed elevators in 52 seconds. The Observation Deck ticket was $18 for adults (13+) and the Day and Night Pass was $22 on its tickets page, which does not state the currency, so confirm it when you book.
The Revolving Dining Room makes one rotation every hour, and Skylon lists early dinner specials daily at 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. According to its OpenTable listing, deck admission is free when you dine, but check when you reserve. The Summit Suite buffet is closed for the season and reopens in mid-May 2027.
Butterfly Conservatory
The Butterfly Conservatory at 2565 Niagara Parkway is a glass-enclosed garden with more than 3,000 butterflies. Adult tickets are CA$25, it is open year round and it is wheelchair accessible. It is one of the better rainy-day options.
Helicopter Flight
Niagara Helicopters flies daily from 9 a.m. until sunset, weather permitting. Resellers describe a flight of about 10 to 12 minutes over the Falls. Prices differ between sellers, so ask the operator directly and ask how many seats you can book together.
A Wine Day in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Wine country is the best second-day plan. Niagara-on-the-Lake has many wineries within a short drive of each other, and Queen Street, the main street of the old town, has the shops and cafes. Book tastings in advance for a group.
- Peller Estates (290 John Street East): its seated tasting runs about 45 minutes with four VQA wines and is offered daily. The Winery Restaurant lists 12 to 8 p.m. daily and recommends reservations, so book a late lunch or an early dinner. Its myWineCountry tour includes transport from hotels in Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake with stops at Peller Estates, Trius and Wayne Gretzky Estates.
- Konzelmann Estate Winery: lists a private group seated tasting for groups of five or more, up to 12 guests, running about 45 minutes. Guests must be 19 or older and bookings are final.
- Inniskillin: takes private tour and tasting bookings through its Tock page. Check the group-size limit when you reserve, because larger parties go through a request form.
- Bachelorette tour operators: at least one local operator, Niagara Wine Tour Guides, sells a bachelorette afternoon tour from Niagara-on-the-Lake that starts at 1 p.m., runs about five hours and includes a private tasting and a cheese and chocolate platter. It was listed from CA$149 per person when we checked.
Pick one plan: a tour with a driver, or two or three wineries with a booked car. Trying to fit in six wineries turns the afternoon into a schedule.
Outlet Collection at Niagara
The Outlet Collection at Niagara is at 300 Taylor Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake, about 22 km from the Falls, and has more than 100 stores. It is a good stop on the way back from wine country if the group wants to shop, and it is also on the GO bus route.
A Spa Morning at Niagara Falls
The Damara Day Spa is on the third floor of the Fallsview Casino Resort. Its menu covers massages, facials, body treatments and head spa services, and guests get complimentary access to the steam room, sauna and jacuzzi on the day of treatment. A tourism listing showed treatments from about CA$148 for a head massage, CA$158 for a relaxation massage and CA$180 for a hot stone massage, but those may be out of date.
The Christienne Fallsview Spa at the Sheraton Fallsview is another option, and its hydrotherapy tub has a view of both the American and Horseshoe Falls. Spas fill up on Saturdays, so book treatments for the whole group at the same time and ask about a private room.
Dinner and Nightlife in Niagara Falls
Dinner With a View
- Skylon Revolving Dining Room: a full rotation every hour, so everyone gets the view. Reserve a table for the whole group.
- Queen Victoria Place Restaurant: run by Niagara Parks. Its outdoor terrace is a fireworks viewing spot, but a dinner reservation is required for the panoramic view.
- Peller Estates Winery Restaurant: better for the wine-country night, but it closes at 8 p.m., so book a table before then.
Clifton Hill and the Casino
Clifton Hill is the loud, bright street of arcades, attractions, restaurants and bars that leads down to the Falls. It is the most fun at night and the easiest place to find a bar without a plan.
The Fallsview Casino Resort has more than 3,200 slot machines and 110 gaming tables, and you must be 19 to enter. It also has two entertainment venues, the OLG Stage and the Avalon Theatre, with more than 320 shows a year, and over 20 restaurants. Check the show schedule before your weekend.
One thing to check: the Dragonfly nightclub inside the casino closed in March 2025, and its operator said a new concept would follow. We could not confirm that a replacement has opened, so do not build a night around the club until you have confirmed it.
